Let me preface this by stating this is MY experience(s) and MY opinion(s).

Leaving Mobay Saturday morning we drove west towards Ochi and the new North – South Highway. Door-to-door (or hotel) was a total one-way 179kms and 2 hours 58 minutes which does include a couple short stops. The new highway gets an A+. It’s as nice as anything in the states and there was no traffic!!! The toll was $920 but the benefit was a nice cruise at 100k/h (or better).

Having never driven in Kingston I didn’t know what to expect. Where they as crazy as the drivers in Mobay? Or worse or what? Honestly; they drive civilized in Kingston!!! Cars & taxis don’t dart out in front of you, or try to squeeze around you or just stop in front of you. Yes, traffic is heavy but they have patience and are courteous.

The hotel was nice, nice pool with bar, breakfast, pleasant staff, clean and comfortable. We found the ultimate place for BBQ ribs!!! It’s in the food court at Sovereign Center on Hope Rd. They were some of the best ribs I have ever had!!! We toured the Bob Marley Home & Museum (another A+), had dinner at Bolt’s Tracks & Records. About a C+… it was too warm inside, food ok & staff pleasant but slow/inexperienced. We also checked out the new Ashley Home Store and they have some nice stuff and prices are respectable.

That part of our Kingston trip rates Four & Half Stars! We will be going back for more.
