" Hello all, As part of a small startup in the wireless internet industry, I have been asked to go out to Tokyo for 6 months to set up our Asia/Pacific offices. One of the things we are deciding is what my per-diem should be. Can anyone give me their experiences in being seconded to Japan, and what company allowances were for per-diem, housing, etc? Thanks in advance! --Kristan Rivers "

" I am in Tokyo now, though not on per-diem...but I know at least some of the prices. Living arrangements=$1200+ per month (assuming mid-level temporary accomodations/not a hotel) Food=$50 per day (coffee+scone=$6, for starters; I know some people who receive 3000 (or about $25 per meal) Travel (Train)=about $100 per month for train pass, depending on the route (Taxis)=Bottom rate is 660, then adding about 200 per km. I hope this helps. Wesley Barnes "
