I am thinking of taking a job in Tokyo next Summer and things are getting to the point in the interview process where I need to do some serious research into what life might actually be like for me and my family (children 11,8 and 3). Friends' views are mixed. Some say that Tokyo is clean, well-organised and that Japan is a beautiful country. Others say that Tokyo is totally foreign and very difficult to adjust to. Some talk of it being very dull.

As my contract would be for 3 years, I need to be clear that it would be a good move.

Housing and school would be provided, so those things are not a problem.

What is expat life like? Is there enough to do? My wife and I are both around the 40 mark.

Any thoughts would be welcome.
