I will be going to Japan in a few weeks and was wondering how I can buy typical American food products over there. I understand some grocery stores have American products but that the selection is limited. Is anyone aware of a 800 # or internet site that offers products by mail?

Although not from the US we have lived in NY and are now in Tokyo. Virtually anything you want, or might need, is here. Might take you a little while to locate and prices are higher but you will not starve!
There is a huge American Club in Tokyo where I am sure you will find help.
Don't worry!

TAC (Tokyo American Club) is always fun...(Rather expensive if you're paying for it on an individual level.. but if its a job benefit thing...its always good) Your American groceries ...Theres National Azabu in Hiroo.. and.. theres COSTCO... and of course you can't forget FBC (ForgienBuyersClub) and theres that Expat Express ---> http://www.expatexpress.com/index.jsp
theres plenty of ways to get American Food... As for restaurants... OUTBACK.. or TGIF... McDonalds.. Wendys ... HardRock Cafe (I think that is still around.. in Roppongi) and a bunc of other stuff.

We just moved back from Kobe, American food is available at local rocery stores like CO-OP, just need someone to show you these products , which are labeled in Japanesee. Ofcousre you can also buy from FBC - Foreign Buyers Club located in Kobe and have a catalog, so you can mail oreder from anywhere from in Japan. We loved it in Japan, and we had 3 young kids. We also just got use to the Japaness food as well.
