I am buying a small English school in Japan,at the moment i have a working visa untill March 2012,my question is can you self sponser for a visa still in Japan,or not?

no way, it took me 2 years to get my work visa approved. I finally got smart and applied for a half japanese visa being half japanese. However this took about the same amount of time. The japanese goverment takes too long to process anything therefore just go there and set up shop and keep a low profile and do it illigally on a tourist visa they will never know
