" Hi. I''m going to be traveling to the middle east for the first time and want to know if there are any laws (ie drinking, etc) that i need to be aware of. I''m interested in having a good time but don''t want to have any problems. Thank you! "

" Hi! I lived in Jordan for 3 years - it''s a great place. Don''t worry about a thing - they are used to foreigners and tourists, and Jordanians are very hospitable people. Drinking is permitted though some places just don''t serve alcohol. Drugs are a BIG NO NO. Avoid wearing short shorts and skimpy t-shirts ( men as well as women) just to show some respect. Don''t forget to ask permission before photographing the locals. Have a great time! "

" Dear James, I have spent time in the Middle East and am now moving to Turkey. I have a friend to recommend to you if you go to Jordan. His name is Abed and he is Jordanian and knows the country well. He is a tour escort and an old friend. You can email him at habiby_2000@yahoo.com. Also I suggest calling him on his cell for best results 011 9627-9543-531. He knows Syria well also. He is a lot of fun and you will learn alot from him. Driking as you propably have already heard is not big in any Islamic country. They drink a lot of black coffee! Have a great trip and let me know if you made contact with Abed. Sincerely, Sydney sunobskey@aol.com "
