I may be taking a job in Jordan. Some of my questions are.
Can non residents obtain a gun permit?
Is the internet redily availible to apartment complexs?
Where is the best place for a westerner to live.

Hi Hogfish,

In answer to your questions, first, I'm not sure about the gun permit but I will ask around and see if I can find more information for you.

Internet is readily available in apartment complexes. There are 2 forms - either DSL or wi fi, both of which are good.

Last, most expats live in either Abdoun or Jabal Amman - two excellent areas that I am sure that you would enjoy.

I will post back to the forum as soon as I have more information on the gun laws.

Hogfish,

I have checked with some local legal contacts regarding the importation and licensing of a personal weapon (as a non-citizen).

It is very unlikely that, as a temporary resident on a work assignment, that you will be given a permit for a gun here, and definitely NOT in advance of moving here.

However, once you arrive in the country, you can apply with the Ministry of Interior for the license. If approved, you could then import your weapon.
