travel medical insurance in Jordan

My husband and I will be moving to Jordan in September. We want to make sure we have some type of medical insurance but not too sure if we need full coverage or if there are local "doc in the box" type places for small medical issues. Are there a lot of pharmacies to provide over the counter meds if needed at a reasonable cost? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think that medical insurance, at least for catastrophic issues, is a very good idea.

But there are easily accessible clinics here, and as far as pharmacies go... almost everything is over the counter. With the exception of highly controlled subtances (Valium, narcotic pain killers, etc.) you can buy anything without a prescription.

And definitely, the costs for medication and doctors is much less than in the West.

Hope this helps!
