hi! Anyone can tell me how is the cost of living in Jordan. My fiance will be moving in Amman this coming Sunday and he is worried of what life he would have there. He is Jordanian but he was born and he grew up in UAE. I also want know how is the economy now in Jordan because he is planning to look for a job there. He has experience in UAE like in a site director and a sales manager.

I also want to go there next year but I am worried if Construction Jobs are available for women like me. I am a Filipina and I work here in UAE as an Electrical Engineer. Also i had an experience as an english teacher. Please help me.

Hello,

The cost of living in Jordan is very high, especially compared to the local salaries. The only way to try to work around that is to "live native" (for example, stay away from malls, and high scale stores and restaurants), and this is a serious challenge for expats.

From what I understand, the economy in Jordan hasn't been affected nearly as badly as has the UAE economy. Still, I've been hearing from friends that jobs aren't as plentiful as they were just 6 months or a year ago.

I am personally unfamiliar with the construction industry here. However, perhaps you can check out some recruiting websites; there is always http://www.bayt.com/ and a popular local site - http://www.akhtaboot.com/
