Hi I'd like to know what a salary of 1000 USD will be worth in Jordan. I have a job prospect & that's the net salary. Housing and some meals are covered. Transport isn't covered, but I'll live and work close to the Dead Sea so want to know if shuttles to Amman are expensive.
Thanks any info is welcomed.

I'm sorry to say that for an expat, it's an extremely low salary. The housing and some meals included will definitely help. If you live frugally, buy locally produced goods instead of imports, you might be able to save a bit.

Thanks a lot, Henny2010.
If I were to negotiate, what would be a comfortable salary? Or what's most expensive that I should ask them to cover?

I would try for 1,500 USD or approximately 1,000 JOD. There will be taxes on that salary, but not too much.
Other than accommodation, try to make sure that all utility expenses are included. Transportation can potentially be expensive as well. (I forgot to answer that question earlier; I'm not sure about how much it costs to shuttle from the Dead Sea to Amman, but it is recommended that expats avoid buses and the like - stick to taxis.)
If they say they will pay for "some" meals, try to get an idea of exactly what they have in mind. Restaurant meals, or groceries? A grocery allowance would help a great deal as you will find that shopping for cooking supplies that you like in some cases will cost more because they are imported.
Make sure they will cover the fees for your visa and any other papers you will need while you are here. If you are able to negotiate the use of a vehicle, you will need a Jordanian driver's license (you can use a foreign driver's license only for rental cars). The fees to transfer your license can cost quite a bit.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head... I'll come back to this if I can think of anything else you can negotiate for. :)

Honestly, it all depends!
Do u have kids? school tuition?
1000 JD is ok for a single person, but if you are married, you need no less than 2000 JD. That's to cover your expenses and you might be able to save 10%, but no more.
Good luck.
