What can I expect as an Aussie lady to stay in Jordan with my partner. We will be travelling from Cyprus to Jordan to apply for visas for my partner to move to Australia. We plan to marry but would like some advice on this. To either marry in Jordan or in Australia. Does anyone have any idea if there is a time on waiting to apply for visas for my partner who is from Jordan. We will be applying in Jordan to return to Australia. Any light on this will be muchly appreciated.

Why would you be marrying in Cypress not in Amman? Legally under common law of England as well as Australia , marriage certificates are valid if it meets the regulations in the country that was issued in under what is called full faith and credit or comity under international law .

Thankyou for your reply. Yes this is what I mean for us to marry in Jordan not Cyprus. We would be travelling from Cyprus to Jordan to get married. So I am happy to read your information and I thankyou for this advice. It is a lot to learn with how things work in another country so I appeciate any information. Do you know how long we have to wait in Jordan before we can travel to Australia. Meaning my partner from Jordan will be applying for visa to come to Australia with me. We would then be married when applying. I heard it can take up to 12 months. You may have some knowledge on this. Thankyou Leanne

I am not familiar with Australian immigration law , my specialty is in US immigration law , but this does not sound right for an immigrant visa ,ave you consulted the Australian Embassy in Amman , a good place to start is their website
