well, this hasn't been answered by expats so far! it should've indeed. I am Anas, a local from Amman: fast food joints isn't so good at all. decent clothing is over-priced. people are very helpful although most of them cannot talk basic English. almost all taxi drivers cannot communicate in English. sad people you see walking in the streets are very very helpful in fact and eager to help, some of them can really communicate, don't be afraid! try and approach! the city streets has no sidewalks! you'd be lucky if you find a nice stretch to take walks. go social with everybody and don't limit yourself to the so calling themselves 'classy people', the kind who find it mandatory to drink to be cool! a whole lot more people there are here in Jordan. LeaRN THe LaNGuaGe, you will spend much much! happier, easier times here in Jordan. don't go crazy and hook up or go wild with people you did not test, you did not really! test! take your time and go easy on stuff, and communicate with all segments, specially the ones you think they are dead-ended. keep an eye on renting market, mingling with people will open your eyes to much cheaper places than the easy ones, yes, unfurnished! but you can buy everything with the rent of a furnished place. driving attitude is slowly improving, streets are still dangerous, but improving. THE COUNTRY WITH THE BEST SECURITY AND SAFETY IN THE WORLD, other than traffic!
kind regards, Anas
