Hello, I am planning to move to Jordan in January 2013 from the United States to marry. I would like to live there permantley. How does one move to Jordan? Do I have to contact any government agencies to get permission? After my 30 day visa is expired how do I stay longer? I would appreciate any advice you can give me....

Over stays cost us 1JD a day and we used to pay it at the police station in Aqaba. Work/residency permits require proof of funds in a Jordainian Bank this can be negotiated once there depending on your intentions.

Hi. I am an American woman who was married last year in Jordan to a Jordanian man. I also taught English for a year there. If you are still looking for information let me know. I'm happy to tell you my experiences.

There is no problem to prolong your visa. You go to the nearast policestation where you are in Jordan. Here they will prolong the visa for up to 3 months. You might need to take a blod sample to check that you don't have HIV og HEP B or C. After this you can again prolong the visa for another new 3 months but now from the a special office in Amman. You can also get visa by becomeing a student or that you get a job and your employeer apply workingvisa for you. When you get married you have to fix a familybook, that gives you a id number that you later will get on a Jordanian id card. This will take 3 to 5 years before you get it. But you start with the familybook. Wish you the very best!
