Does anyone know much about Karaganda? I am considering a move, and would like to know about the city, cost of living, schools for children (Russian speaking only fine), quality of life, pollution. Thanks.

I have been there on business trips but live in Atyrau. It is likely the third best city in Kazakhstan arguably. Good size and good resturants and shopping. Not sure about schools. Cost of living is reasonable compared to Astana or Almaty. It is only a 2.5 hour drive from Astana where you can get just about anything. There are factories just outside of the town so there may be some air pollution. Quality of life there should be fairly good.

We relocated to Karaganda is about 3 months ago.
If you have any question about cost of living, schools and so on - please feel free to contact me.

I can say that living in Kazakhstan is more cheaper than in Moscow or Kuala Lumpur, but usually it depends on specific life style.
