we are a european couple expecting our first child in september and at the same time are weighing a move to nairobi. we would like to get in touch with any other expat parents who have gone through a similar experience and could give us some advise on whether it is a sensible thing to be contemplating at all, and maybe some practical tips if we indeed opt to come to kenya before the birth.
many thanks in advance to anyone who could help.

Congratulations on your expected baby! I am also preparing for the birth of my first child (in October) while planning to move (back) to Kenya. I have opted to postpone my move until 3 months after the birth, which I will have in the US. I considered giving birth in Nairobi and know the care given at Nairobi Hospital is excellent (I lived in Kenya previously and had close friends undergo operations there with perfect results) - in my case, my parents and parents-in-law are less familiar with the situation. My compromise is birth in the US and three months of visiting before leaving for Kenya. Good luck with either choice! I would be interested in keeping in touch, as I do have questions about pediatricians, etc. that seem far off now and imagine you will as well.

hi, my partner has just given birth to a girl in nairobi's womens hospital, no problems with the hospital, staff very experienced and caring, facilities very good in case of any complications, i understand that nairobi hospital is of the same standards. If you want to know the costs involved, get back to me. best wishes to the pending new arrival.
