Here's my opinion, having lived in upstate NY and Kenya. Sorry if it sounds cold hearted. I sold a lot and returned to the US with two pieces of luggage. I would suggest selling your things and purchasing replacements in the US. It is really not worth it to bring much from Kenya, except items of sentimental value, or wildlife to the US. Remember cars are different (left hand drive) and power is 110 volts. Phones, radios, and such are different. The styles of clothing and furniture is different. Food and agricutural products are difficult to import. Anything you could desire, except a good pineapple, cup of chai, and some matoke or ugali, is available here. You can find high quality second-hand procucts in the US. Save your money, sell your things, and use this money wisely in Ithica to puchase new or second-hand things. You will need all the money you can as things are generally more expensive. Safari njema!
