Shipping a Puppy to Nairobi

My family already lives in Nairobi and we have 2 American-bred pedigreed dogs. While visiting the US last month, we purchased a very young puppy of our chosen breed in the greater Washington, DC area . Kenya now requires that all animals entering its borders be shipped as cargo, so we were not able to bring the puppy with us on our return trip. At 7 weeks of age, the pup was too young for travel at that time, as well. The breeder seemed willing to arrange the shipping that we'd pay for, but now that we're back here, they seem to have pulled back a bit. There are complications with their own lives and they can't handle our complications, too.

We have talked with the agents and the customs and shipping specialists since our return, and everyone here in Nairobi says the arrangements must be made in the US, since that's where the shipment will originate. It's not so easy to arrange from 8,000 miles away.

I've begun researching US-based (Washington-area) shipping agents online. You can imagine the inherent challenges and worries. I'm wondering if others have shipped pets from Washington DC to Nairobi as cargo, and if so, what advice and recommendations you can offer.

Have any of you had success in dealing directly with an airline to arrange the cargo shipment of a pet?

Wishing for a magic wand . . . :-) Thank you. I am Kans in Nairobi

Did you eventually sort your travel arrangements out for your puppy? It is so difficult doing things long distance.

I am DESPERATE to try and get information regarding a boxer dog pup that was exported 21 years ago.He became a champion and I am trying URGENTLY find out if there is an ongoing line from him.I have tried for 6 months contacting the East Africa Kennel club with no luck so need either someone who can literally post my request through their door or a Boxer breeder contact pref in the Mombasa area as that is where the owners lived.A long standing Boxer person would may be know the dog from the past and if there is a bloodline still going. This is a LONG SHOT.I have the last dog in the line who is young but diagnosed with terminal cancer so this is a plea from the heart for some help to try and do some pedigree tracing.
Kind Regards
Annie

Do either of you have any information on crossing the border by car with pets? We'll be in KY, Tz, and UG and will be traveling between the three with our dog.

Thanks!
