I may be considered for a post in Seoul and wonder if it''s a fun place to live. I assume that it''s got to have some Western influence and not be TOO strict legally. Can one get along okay there if you''re the fun loving American that''s not too obnoxious?

" Seoul is a fun place to be. Beside the cultural aspect (lots of great performances of all kind) there are a lot of social events going on. More recently even Salsa events become common and the Techno scene became vivid here as well. The Itaewon district is great and well know for its bars and pubs (Try the basement for great burgers if you get homesick). In Sinchon area its great as well for the younger folks. A lot of students and English teachers go here - you''ll get reasonable priced food here and some good live entertainment. Or try Taehangno (University street). Apkujong Dong or the JJ Mahoney (Disco in Hyatt Hotel) are the more expensive ones. You can do a lot of sports, partying etc. Feel free to ask more questions... Enjoy your time in Korea! "

" oohps. Forgot to type the word Nashville. The place to go for great burgers is the ""Nashville basement"". Even Burger King, Mc Dondalds, etc. have loads of outlets here. The best place to go for a good burger is on Itaewon, opposite the Hamilton Hotel, next to the Body Shop. "

" Yes!!! Seoul is a blast! In addition to any number of cultural events happening every day, there is lots of great hiking and rock climbing (the city is surrounded by mountains), good night life of all kinds (from corner bars to cafes to student dives to dance clubs), open air markets, and excellent public transportation. I lived there for 3 1/2 years and I loved it. It''s a little congested traffic-wise, and therefore the air quality suffers, but it''s easy to get out of town for the day and take in some mountain scenery or go visit the rest of the country. Koreans are excellent hosts - very friendly and curious about Westerners in general. Many people speak at least some English. Go there if you get the chance. It was a great experience to live there.
