Teaching w/ a non-teaching significant other

I plan to teach English in South Korea this upcoming year, my boyfriend plans to go with me. I know that my housing is going to be paid for, but does anyone know if he would be allowed to live with me based on the culture and typical rules of the school, being as they are providing the housing? Also, does anyone have any insight as to him being able to find work in a different field? What are the chances that he could have a separate job, but still live with me?

My wife was also a teacher in south Korea, your bf will not be able to live in that house with you, as for working there he must try to get a job offer th.En apply for a work permit. Unfortunately it doesn't look like your bf can join you there but others here may know different. Might be best you go first then find out while you are there

I really wouldn't worry about that. Are you considering a Hagwon or a public school. If its a public school they probably wouldn't find out. Hagwon, they probably will find out. I did the same with my girlfriend before we got married. She wasn't Korean and they didn't care. That said i didn't care.

Wether he can get a job in a different field relies on his skill set and what Korea needs. He may well need to get a visa for that outside Korea but he could look for a job while he's here on a tourist visa.

This isn't true. I stayed with my girlfriend and she wasn't working. You don't even need to tell them. Its none of their business. its isn't written in the contract nor is it illegal. Please check your facts before telling others.
