Current situation in Kuwait regarding security is better than 1998 and 1999. Dont listen to the precautions and travel warnings by the Embassy cause they are not true. I mean westerners are not targetted in streets and all what happened last year were individual incidents. You can come and work.

David, current climate in respect of safety is calm. Embassy advice is always cautious. However, in my interperation, acting as a Warden for the British Embassy, follow their guidelines, and keep alert in case. This is, as I am sure you are already aware, worthy of mention when on the roads.
I am enjoying Kuwait a lot, its just hard in the beginning when you try and get to know people. Diving and Darts are worth inquiring about for meeting others. Aside from that Teachers are most difficult to meet, I've found.
