Kuwaiti Sponsor Screwed Me

Hello Expats, heres the deal. Back in November i came to Kuwait for an Interview and landed a Job. My sponsor told me i'd start work in December 1st. Left my job at the time and awaited my sponsor to send Visa. Unfortunately he jerked me and told me my contract was not ready due to delays. I tried going back to Intel Corporation (the co. i used to work for) and unfortunately they told me that my position had already been filled. So i couldnt go back.

In january my Sponsor had sent me my Visa by email and told me to come Mid February. Mid feb i came to Kuwait (2 weeks ago).

At the airport they asked me for the original Copy of the visa. So i called my boss and he did not pick up. Since i'm american they let me go. The next day i called my sponsor and he told me that there are still delays with my contract. Now i'm jobless, in kuwait and looking for jobs. I sent my CV to KBR, Halliburton, PWC Logistic, MTC, Schlumberger, Wataniya, Kuwait Recruitment Bureau amongst 200 other companies with no luck.

I'm getting frustrated. I've been home for the past 4 months, in Kuwait now with 2 weeks left till my Visa Expires.

Looking for a Job. Please help.

It appears that you were royally shafted. Who was the company that treated you in such a manner?

If you wish, send me a copy of your resume, and I'll examine for possible ideas. My personal email address is vicv1@yahoo.com

I am sorry to hear of such an unfortunate situation - I really believe this is to be the exception rather than the rule BUT I would say having been in the region for 8 years - always have ALL documentation in hand prior to resigning - this comes from any reputable firm.

If Vic can't help, and if anyone - they can! I believe! My suggested route would be to research Dubai as per the below links or take off to Dubai - contacting from overseas to any of the recruitment firms directly is often hopeless as they get so may enquiries, but in town is a different matter.
And as I say to get an idea of what is available jobs-wise in the regions both Gulf news and Khaleej Times cover predomently Dubai and some regional jobs - at least you can call for appointments from Kuwait!
Look at www.khaleejtimes.com - Appointmenttimes
and www.gulf-news.com - Classifieds Situations vacant
Do wish you the best of luck and don't let this taint the region for you!
