Moving to Kuwait!

I've just accepted a job and will be moving to Kuwait at the end of this month. I have a couple of questions for all of you!

1. Is there anything you absolutely wish you had brought with you that you left at home when you moved there? If so, what? I'm moving into a fully furnished high-end apartment, so I'm really only bringing my clothes, shoes, pictures, some books, and a few miscellaneous things I want to bring.

2. Is there a state-of-the-art gym open very early (5am) near Salwa? If so, how much does it typically cost per month? (KD is fine.)

3. How much paid holiday leave is standard in Kuwait for expats? I'm a mid-career professional coming to work for one of the largest companies in Kuwait.

4. Other than the American Women's League, AWARE center, etc., what other places or groups can I go or join to meet other people? Since I'm moving by myself, I want to start making friends right away!

5. Is there any place I could get private tutored Arabic lessons? If so, do you know how much? The AWARE center classes don't start until Oct 28th, because of Ramadan, but I would love to get private tutoring and be able to go into the level 2 class at the end of October.

Thanks for any help you can offer!!!!!

1- I dont think you will need more than what you are planning to bring. if you are into cooking Mexican and southern dishes you may find it hard to some spices here.
2- Do you think Kuwaiti women would wake up at 5 am to go to a gym? If you live in Salwa, the nearest would be in Jabriya i guess but i am not sure they open at 5 am. Many of the new buildings have their own little gyms now.
3- paid leave is one month. some companies give 3 or 5 weeks.
4- good luck :)
5- what you can do is call Aware and get the number of their tutor to start with you upon arrival. you can also call some of the language schools but that would be expensive. also, since its summer holiday it would not be easy to find a teacher in Kuwait now.
I have done some arabic private tution before. I guess i can find you some learning materials.
