Hi Suzy73,
I think most expats at some point have been and maybe still are in your boat when you first arrive in Kuwait. Where have you come from? I love living here but there are alot who dont. I come from the UK and there is alot I miss but also alot I dont miss.... How old is your daughter. School is a great way to make new friends (for you as well as your D) I have a very busy H and 2 children in school but a baby who keeps me busy, but I am never too busy for a starbucks. What area of Kuwait are you located in?
Hope you meet some great people here real soon and get out and about. Contact me on skindraya2@hotmail.com directly if you like... also on msn x

Hello there, I have just your e mail. My partner (soon to be husband) has accepted a job in Kuwait. He starts in Dec, my daughter who is 3 years and I will join him Feb-March 08. I came to have a look around Kuwait last weekend and visited schools/nurseries and beech clubs and what i saw was great , I am like you one of my issues is making sure there is plenty for me to do when my little gem is at school and soon to be H is working hard.

hi, my name is hala and i am syrian woman married to a german and we have 2 years old boy and i am now pregnant, soon i am moving to kuwait from dubai , i am very much worried, i made a pre-visit to kuwait and it was not bad, i expected worse than that, but still i am very much worried, what bothered me the most during my visit is the cost of living in kuwait, i was schocked, it is really high, especially the rent, am I wrong or maybe the agencies i dealt with were bluffing me??? we are searching for 3 bedrooms flat in gulf road, we are willing to pay up to 700 dinar and not more than that but seems that this is too less and this what suprised me because this is not what i expected, they told me kuwait is far cheaper than dubai but in reality it is not. am i right?? anybody can help me to understand the market there, how can i find a flat in gulf road for arround 700 dinar, i am searching for something with see view, bright with big windows, clean, i dont care about the facilities. ok, talked too much. please help thanks

All apartments in Kuwait are near a mosque, as there is a mosque on every street block.
My first night in Kuwait, I woke up at the sound of the call to prayer. I found it exotic and beautiful. It doesn't wake me anymore.
It is all about attitude.
If you come here afraid and looking for problems, you will have a bad time. If you embrace it as an adventure, and are open to enjoy new experiences, you will have wonderful time.

Sadly, I suspect to be in the same boat in a few months time when we get posted to Kuwait. We lived in Riyadh before, during and just after the first Gulf incident but left mid 91. Now it seems we will be going back to the region to live in Kuwait City. I am devastated but somewhat relieved to read there are some who like it there!!! Can't find much information on the internet beyond the official sites. Would love to get in touch with people who are actually living there already. Many thanks in advance.

You should be able to find a three bedroom with sea view on Gulf Road for about 500KD if you avoid agents, negotiate, and look carefully.
