Hey Anwar,
I want to teach English in Kuwait with my wife. What should we expect will be the cost of accommodations? What about buying a car? Insurance, gas, used or new? I want to learn Arabic fluently. Are there many venues for learning and practice? I want to come back to Canada for few days from Dec. 22-Dec.28. Do you think I will be accommodated in this from my employer? How much should I expect to get paid from my employment and in what currency? Thanks for your help.

hi there , accommodations cost will depend on the area you are going to choose and how many rooms you want but the average will be starting from 250 kd which is about $750 a month .buying a car is very easy because all kind of cars are available here used or brand new and there is nothing to worry about , you can rent a brand new car for 2 years and the monthely payment starts from 100 kd with maintenance and insurance . teaching english is very good chance if you contact the schools here in kuwait via their ads in the internet or contact kuwait embassy in canada (that help a lot ) . who is going to pay for your expenses . this has to be agreed with the school you are going to work for before you make the contrat . currency here in kuwait is kuwitit dinar which equal to $3 and some fils . regarding arabic lessons yes you will have no problem to learn arabic in kuwait because there are so many institutes and private teachers who do that .
hope i answer your questions and if you have more please feel free to ask . my e-mail : anwer33@yahoo.com

Hello Anwar,

I have an Oman driving license and US driving license. Oman is valid and US has expired as of Nov 08. I am an Indian and would like to know how to obtain a driving license. Everyone mentions that I will require to get a NOC from Oman, but that is not possible now. Kindly advise.

hello vinodjis,
in order to obtain kuwaiti license first you have to have your own us license valid then it depends if you are her to work then your sponser is to get you a kuwaiti license , second depends also on your work here in kuwait and that also your sponser who obtains visa for you will inform the traffic department that you are working for them then you will get it .

Anwar,
Can you tell me what the plugs look like for any electrical appliances? Are they the Euro three prongs or the rounded plug with two prongs?

Hello Trekker,

As for the plugs, they are the same as the Euro ones. (three prongs).

As for transferring money, the majority of the banks here offer this service free of charge if you use their online banking system. You can always have another account in USD.

Hello,'
I am moving to Kuwait in Sept/09 with my 3 kids and the schools seem so expensive? I have been recommended to the Delphi indian school in Ahmar (not sure). Do you know what school and review of this school? Is Qusoor a good area to live?
Thank You in advance

Hello BNDGR,

Since I have been to public schools, and since I don't have kids yet. I can't really say much about tuition fees. However, I know the prices aren't all the same and there is a wide variety of schools (with different prices).

As for Qusoor, it isn't a bad area to live in. People there are mid class, houses are good, and the rent should be reasonable.

Thank You Gooner for your response. I'm looking into everything everywhere on the net, so I should be able to find a good and hopefully reasonable school.
How long have you lived in kuwait?

Dear BNDGR;

My friends at the office, mostly live in Fahaheel/Salmiya send to some of this school. Filipino English School in Fahaheel charge around KWD1000 per year per student. Gulf Indian School charge about the same amount KWD1000 per year per student. Cambridge English School in Mangaf charge KWD2000 per student per year (depends on age). Fahaheel English School also about KWD2000 per student per year. Pakistan English School in Mangaf KWD 300 per student per year. I think the rate about the same for other English school in other parts of Kuwait. Up to you mate ! The feedback that I got is from my friends in my worksite. Tendency for Filipino send their kids to Filipino school, Indian to Indian School, Pakistan to Pakistani school and etc. The managers and above which earn high salaries tend to send to the English school or American schools.

Thank You both Malong2009 and Gooner for the info. I appreciate it.
Im used to the free public schools here in the US, I guess I'm spoiled. Anyway inshallah it will all work out for the best.
Now I'm on to finding an apt. my fiance said he thinks we can find something for around 500kd for a 3bed flat.
I'm excited and scared at the same time.

500 KD is more than enough to get a decent apartment..it's just depends on the area, u can always search in Salmiya, Maidan Hawally and Salwa, I am sure u'll find wat u want with good prices...u don't hv to expect the worse :p ... it's only "be smart" ;)

@malong2009

My appartment (floor) is 4 bedroom (2 master rooms) with a huge hall. My rent is KD500 and it's a new one. You can find good appartments with good prices, you just have to search by yourself and don't count on real estate agents.
