" Curious about expats, if any, in the PDR. Am considering retiring there. My wife is Lao, I speak Lao fluently and can really, really retire in a year or two. She is anxious to return to her family; I have little to keep me here and would like to gather as much info as possible. Articles on the net indicate a bit of un-rest thereabouts but cannot help but wonder about the veracity/authenticity. If you live or have lived there I''d be most thankful for your observations and insight/advice. Should entry and long term residence be impossible I''ve considered Nong Khai, but would, if possible, prefer to live in/near Vientiane. Thanks, Frank Waldrop "
