I was wondering if there is any US citizen living in Laos. If so, do you renew your visa every month to stay there longer? or Do you cross to neighboring country and re-entry Laos? In other word, how can we be a permanent resident? what is the process or procedure to become one without losing your US citizen status? thanks

I have a contact in Vientiane I met by email. He says many foreigners live there and just cross the Friendship Bridge into Thailand every 30 days or less. Re-entering Laos U will be charged about $45. each time by Immigration. So U R going to spend aroud $60 per month to live in Laos without problems from Police.
I dearly want to hear from other Expats living within Laos. email me!
