I am a U.S. citizen considering a semi permanent move to Laos. I'm no stranger to international travel in Asia, but mostly in Korea and northern China. I've done alot of research, but would be interested in contacting other westerners who have made the jump to Laos. I have a wide variety of qualifications, and think I should be able to find some kind of work. I've got a small bankroll tucked away from after my company went under, and I've always been able to hit the ground running in most countries I've been to. Looking forward to any and all responses.
Thanks

Nevermore - pretty sure most would agree that Korea and N. China aren't even remotely similar to Lao. If you're looking for that type of lifestyle, culture, etc you will be disappointed here in Lao. If you're looking for the opposite side of the spectrum while staying in Asia, then Lao may be for you.

Thanks for the response, and I appreciate your input. Most of my time in northern Asia was in the bigger cities, but I also had the chance to spend some time in the small villages outside of the bigger cities. My experiences in these tiny villages are some of my most memorable. The only thing I didn't like was the cold weather. I didn't mind sleeping on the floor and the lack of running water, but using an outhouse at 3am when it's 10 below is far from enjoyable. Haha.
Everything I've read and learned so far about Laos leads me to believe that the people and culture resemble that of the people I met and stayed with in the small rural areas of northern China. Only warmer.
Thanks again, and as always any and all input is welcomed.
