Moving out mid August 2012

Hi everyone.

I am moving out there mid August for a minimum of 2 years, with work, with my boyfriend. We are both in our late 30's, we have never lived abroad before, any advice anyone? My work are sorting out my visa, the shipping of my goods, accommodation, and a car, so I have no worries with that. We will be living in Vientiane although my work is in Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.

My boyfriend will be looking for work, he only speaks English, and will have a full work visa. Not sure how easy it would be for him to find work? It's not a deal breaker, for now he can simply look after me lol.

Looking forward to getting out there and starting our new life

How did your boyfriend get a full work visa ? As I understand it from my working in Laos that the work visa is company specific.

Not sure, my work are sorting everything out. It's not a deal breaker he finds work. For now I will be happy to be waited on :)

Anything. He has 8 years experience in a factory making shoes. He also has 3 years bar experience when we both manager a busy pub in the centre of Cambridge, England. He has 3 years experience in security and is 6ft 5" tall! He currently has a job in sales which he has done successfully for 3 years.

He also has a passion for motorbikes and travelling and his ideal job would be a motorbike tour guide.

He has a driving license so could drive a car.

He is also interested in Charity work so might initially find some volunteer charity work. We did a week in Kenya, Africa, at an orphanage a couple of years ago.

Nothing on his work experience would get him a job in Laos except may be the security experience. Maybe try the australian mining companies or the deminers.

Also check out UN and NGO websites for anything that may suit.
