How to get a job

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how I can get a job in Vientiane. I have been trying to months now but all the jobs are for Lao nationals and the NGO jobs seen to be for those with a very specific skill set. I've been living in Laos for 2 years.

You just have to keep trying. Could you do some type of online courses to give you more a specific skill set so you could apply for NGO jobs.
I take it you have tried United Nations website ??

Have tried that website. Maybe you are right, I'll have to do a course. Will keep looking.

Remember, if you do manage to get a job you will need a work permit and an appropriate visa.
Teaching jobs can be easier to get

I heard Teaching jobs in Laos were very rare, or was that old news? Do they require a Degree as well?

Teaching is plan C for me so I have never made a serious effort to get one. From what I have heard is that it is easy to get a part time job of just a couple of hours but hard to get a full time/full pay job.
If you are looking for a liveable income it is not the job ... but if all you want is a 1 year visa and a bit of BeerLaos money they are OK
