Hi I'm on the Lithuania/Latvia border and I guess that the situation is pretty much the same in both countries. Both I and my partner require meds for longstanding conditions and we haven't found any problems. Coming from the UK I find the health care here to be excellent, better than at home, and no problems getting the medication I'm used to. We don't have private health insurance, don't find we need it as the walk-in clinics are very reasonably priced - full root canal treatment for a fraction of the UK price, for example. The general standard of clinics, doctors, dentists etc is much higher than in the UK and pharmacists can sell many 'prescription' meds over the counter - they will talk to you about contraindications etc but are more knowledgeable than in the UK. It might be difficult to find a physician who speaks English, although we don't have too many problems if we head out to Vilnius. Also the approach is different - instead of just prescribing for my partner's high blood pressure, there is a genuine difference in approach, emphasising personal responsibility for personal health.
