Does anyone live in Vilnius? If so, we are interested in learning more about cost-of-living there.

I just stumbled onto this site while looking for the history of restaurants. Are you still interested in info about Vilnius?

Specially, I am looking for people from Vilnius who could show me some interesting points. I am male, 28 years old , born in Spain, living and working in Germany.

The cost of living in Vilnius varies grealy with were in Vilnius you want to live. As you might or ight not know, the secret is out that Vilnius is one of the best cities in Europe, so prices in hot areas are expensive, but mut much cheaper if your willing to live a bit farther.

I agree about the cost of living varying in Vilnius. I lived in Vilnius for over a year and experienced both extremes, from living the "foreigner's life" in Old Town to living like a typical Lithuanian in old Soviet block housing. Real estate is outrageously expensive in Vilnius; food and public transportation are "cheap." If you know Lithuanians, and willing to have a roommate, you can get by with about 1500 LT/month ($500/mo). I currently live in the US, but when I return to Vilnius, I plan on having a minimum of 3000 LT/mo ($1000) to live on. Piece of advice: get to know local Lithuanians to help you out a bit with finding good deals. Otherwise, people will think you're rich because you're a foreigner and will try to rip you off.
