Hello.
I'm living in Vilnius since 10 days, I will work here for long time.
I'm french but I'm playing australian football since 2-3 years (before in France and Spain).
I project to creat a aussie rules football team in Vilnius and I expect for help and players (aussies or others).
This sports is realy funny and sure that local guys (they are tale and strong) will like it.
So as can be nice meeting (sport-entertaiment) point for strangers
People that want join my project, please find my e-mail adress in profil.

Welcome to Lithuania. I hope you enjoy it here.

You can probably use a football field at a local school. Alternatively, there are open spaces in parks like Vingis. In either place, you ought to pick up new members free of charge.

You could also list yourself with the embassies of English-speaking countries. For example, since there is no American football here, you might get some US expats to join up.

Lithuanian television ran a spot for an insurance or investment firm that used Australian football as the basis. Only the good guys were mounted on horses. So either Lithuanians are familiar with the sport or the advertiser made a mistake.

I'm a little too old and slow for such sports, although I could definitely use the exercise.

Good luck with it.

Yes, I think for beginning go to a park. After that the ideal will be a rugby field.
I think can be really nice for english speaker stranger and I'm sure that native guys will be good players.
Many thanks for your tips.
You are welcome for coach or manager if you cannot play.

Hi,
Thanks for the offer but I doubt I would be much of a coach. I am having enough trouble just finding time to answer letters.

I did find a copy of the History of Rugby next to the Opera Hall (by the Green Bridge) in a basement shop on the street on the Seimas side. It was only 20 litas. They only had one copy on display but they might be able to order more if requested since they are not used.

You should post your Rugby schedule (times and locations) with ExpatExchange when you set one up.

Good luck.
Arturas
