Hi, I don't know much about cars, but I do shop for them every few years here with my wife. I've gone to BRC in Vilnius MANY times. When questioned extensively, they did admit that most of their cars from the US are totalled, but didn't want to tell everything. I used carfax a few times, and it detailed HOW the car was totalled, ie, crash, theft, flood/storm damage. Really, any "good" used car will come with a warranty.

Thank you my friend Mikas, for your response. The knowledge of cars that I wanted is just about what you told me. Not necessarily mechanics of cars. When I compared the prices of cars in Europe online, I found out that they are cheaper in Lithuania and that is why I want to have a friend (like you) there to tell me more about cars and the people of Lithuania. I really like to go there to buy one (any good 4-doors family/saloon car like, Mercedes/Honda/Passat/Nissan/Toyota/Opel/Hyundai/Daewoo, etc anyone) to start with. Also, I want to know about how far is Lithuania to UK in terms of comparing the distance with other European countries not necessarily the mileage. For example, people from UK go to Germany to buy cars and drive it down. Is it also possible to do so with Lithuania?
Once again, thank you for your contact and I hope to read from you soon. Please reply to my private email address of:
oshadie@ymail.com
I can then send to you my telephone number so that we can chat together.
Bye for now.
Shadie.

..my advice, make a road trip to germany, belgium or the netherlands. germany...quality, well maintained cars, belgium-cheap but a lttle run in (must be the french in them); NL-a little more expensive, high mileage but well looked after. there are car auctions here in NL that deal specifically with export, the fourteen day ecport plates and insurance etc. some come with BOVAG guarantee etc. these three countries dealers know exactly what to do when exporting. in Lt, there's always someone who knows how to import from germany. yes, there are cars in Lt that have been write offs. in fact quite a few, i've seen truck loads literally, on the road going to lt with write offs. unless i know the history of the car, i wouldn;t touch it. especially when they see a foreigner. i took my cousing in-law with me to the kaunas car sales...a big fella...he got the seller to confess the car was totalled when it came from sweden. oh and mileage...ha ha roulette game..buyer be ware.

I have same practical experience in buying a cars in LT. Some months ago I started looking for a particular model. After several weeks of work making phone calls, sending emails, searching for information and contacts abroad, I found out that - here's the funny part: out of the 20 cars of that particular model, 17 were clocked, i.e. the mileage was forged. Just as all of them were showing between 190.000 and 230.000 km., in reality they had rolled from 350 to 600.000 km., an average car having rolled approx. 480.000 km. Half of these cars' sellers wrote in their adds "true mileage"... Two of the cars I couldn't trace, one car's seller confessed on his own, and one had genuine mileage which I then bought.
So if there's anyone willing to buy a used car here, feel free to contact me, as I have learned many tricks in their book.
