dear all, i am in lithuania now and i am thinking to settle and stay here, i really like it. anyone knows on how to find a job, i dont know lithuanian very well.

There are little or no jobs available here for Lithuanians, let alone for foreigners. Plus, you will have to learn Lithuanian, because so few Lithuanians can speak English at a level above elementary or intermediate. Lithuanian companies are also required to only hire Lithuanians unless they can show proof that the job requires a foreigner. If you need a job to live here long-term, you will have to learn to live at the low level they pay and suffer the employment practices they suffer like long hours without extra pay and abusive management. I do not recommend moving to Lithuania to live - it's a nice place to visit, but the culture is relatively negative. Why do you think Lithuanaia has such a high rate of suicide and that so many of them want to leave their country?

rikmo - you have posted some false statements here:
1) Lithuanian companies ARE NOT required to hire only Lithuanians, but any resident of the country - as long as he or she has a legal work permission. Lithuanian companies are though required to prove that the job requires a foreigner, BEFORE this foreigner gets work visa. maxbb clrearly wrote: "I AM in Lithuania".
2) Abusive management here is not bigger than anywhere else in Europe or USA - it depends on whether you are shoveling pigs' manure, or working at some restaurant, or working at some consultancy bureau.

What rikmo has said is pretty much experience in Lt. Whilst it's illegal to stipulate Lt people only etc. It does happen! Don't kid yourself. People do find it hard to get a job there,hence why people leave to the u.k. Ireland etc. Language is a barrier. Employment practices are draconian and punitive. The recreational lifestyle is great...fishing etc. Yes the culture is relatively negative, one word springs to mind "boodoolis".See how the locals treat their beautiful countryside... fantastic lakes and ponds..littered by idiots who leave their burnt out rubbish on the shore, broken alcohol bottles and other debris.Anyway, for a westerner there, working for a Lithuanian company would be a prison sentence.Start your own business is the solution. There are opportunities there buy cheap from outside and sell at a profit there and vice versa,
