warning to all business travellers. do not stay in bargain accomodation of any kind hotel, hostel or private apartment. they are cheap for a reason...to trap you ! they will steal your data, copy documents, dug you, video you with a man/woman doing deviant acts. they will make you seriously ill with lsd/rohypnol/cocaine + heroin (speedball)
i budget a minimum of $100 a day for room and food i find that keeps the honey traps at bay.
never travel alone on business, use twin rooms and share with a trusted colleague. Be back in your hotel by 2100. Do not accept drinks from anyone. Only smoke you won cigarettes. Don not drink alcohol on a business trip. Reject all female attempts at friendship / conversation. Stay focused on your contract 24/7. Eastern europe is not a playground. Many ex kgb and nkvd reside in the baltic countries. They have a network of females on dating sites such as tagged.com, badoo, com, amastasia, draugas.lt, facebook. they can monitor your email / skype / mobile . Use a supermarket sim card and change it every day. Do not venture out of city centres stay within 1km of your hotel, do not be tempted to visit tourist sites without a secure trusted escort. Trust NONE !
Sign nothing. All hire cars and taxis are fitted with tracker devices. More soon. If you have been scammed in any way please contact me.

What the actual ****. Are you serious? I spend every weekend in Vilnius, as my wife has a business there, only traveling back to UK for work Monday to Friday. Have been doing this for 8 months now. Prior to that the wife and I travelled to Vilnius anywhere between 3-6 times a year for the previous 4 years and about 10 years ago, before meeting my wife (in London), I travelled around Lithuania on my own. Not once did I make my way back to my accommodation by 9pm. Budget accommodation is fine, just be vigilant. Yes there are some dodgy characters in bars and clubs, but again; just be vigilant. If you go back to your hotel room alone by 9pm you're going to be pretty bored. Go out and see some of the vibrant night life in Vilnius, Kaunus or Klaipeda. My God, honey traps. Are you walking around with a 24 carat gold Rolex on or something?

This is a load of old tosh, as we Brits say.
There are dodgy characters in every country; as a middle-aged (so perhaps seemingly vulnerable) businesswoman I moved freely around Vilnius, and 'outposts' such as Svencionys, Utena, and Visaginas for four years, including late at night, I ate in budget cafes and went to places such as the station late at night, I took taxis and local busses .... never a single incident of harassment or threat. I can't say that about the UK!
