I am considering a move to Lux as my partner has been living and working there for 3 years now and has just purchased a property. I have read that its impossible to get a job though and I am worried as I wouldn't like to move without having secured some work.... can anyone help me out or provide some advice??
thanks
Gillian

Hello. Is your partner an EU citizen? Are you married or in a civil union (PACS)? If so, you are eligible to live and work in Luxembourg. And of course, if you are also an EU citizen, then you are eligible. I don't think it's impossible to find a job in Luxembourg. But it really depends on your profession. I work in IT and I found a job after about 3 months of looking. But this was primarily because I was very particular about the job and held out for the right job. The main industry here is banking. But there are plenty of other viable sources of employment depending on your profession. Good luck!

Hi, yes he is he has been living and working there for 2.5 years. We are not married however I will be trying to register as an eu citizen and have my name on the property but not sure how easy that is either.
I am an office manager at the moment so more of a general office based role I would need. Do you know how easy it would be to become a Luxembourg resident if he is already there? Thanks

If he is a Luxembourgish citizen, you should be able to legally live in Luxembourg. But only if you are PACS'd (civil union) or married. If not, I believe that you would only be able to live and work in Luxembourg if you are an EU citizen. I'm not a lawyer. But in my experience, this is how it has worked.

Regarding a job... there are many, many offices in Luxembourg. Depending on your language skills, I do not think that it would be that difficult to find a job. But I would not plan on finding a job immediately after arriving in Luxembourg. It could be several months before you find the right job at the right salary. The primary languages in Luxembourg are French and English. However, there are often jobs requiring German or Dutch. Good luck!
