" Hi there My name is Maria Sellars and I have just registered as a volunteer with expatexchange.com. I am living in the coastal town of Lumut in Perak (West Coast) and would be more than happy to chat to anyone out there in Malaysia - whether it''s about finding your way around the site, passing on feedback or just sharing views about experiences in this country or concerns, please go ahead! Before arriving in Malaysia I worked as an International HR Consultant, ironically sending expats overseas (!) and am now living it myself and experiencing those teething problems! I''m now studying to become a Montessori teacher but think that tools like expatexchange are an invaluable part of interacting with others in the same situation, when it''s otherwise easy to feel isolated! If anyone has anything they can share with me about Perak in particular, I would love to hear too? Thanks Maria "

" Hi! My name is Tina Koyama and I am a volunteer here at the Malaysia Network. I live in Melaka, a town of about 300,000 located just 2 hours drive south of Kuala Lumpur on the West Coast. I have been here in Malaysia for about a year now. Recreating myself here in a new country has been an interesting task. Before coming to Malaysia I lived and worked in Japan for 5 years as an English teacher. In Malaysia I have become the ""trailing spouse,"" with a whole new set of variables and conditions to play with! I am a member of the Spouse Network, where the support of the members has really helped me to adjust to my new life and home. Someone on the Spouse Network once told me that each move to a foreign country is going to be different, and it certainly is true. It is a ""Re-Creation"" process everytime. Currently I am working towards training myself on the computer and getting back to my art and graphic design that I took that 5 year hiatus from while in Japan. I have made some nice friends here and am enjoying the Malaysian experience! Whether you are considering moving to Malaysia, are on the way over, or are already here, whether you''re an accompanying spouse or someone looking to start a new career in Malaysia, feel free to get in touch anytime! Malaysia is a wonderful place and I''d love to ""talk"" with you! I look forward to meeting and chatting with you all here at expatexchange! Sincerely, Tina Koyama tinakoyama@hotmail.com "
