I am travelling to KL with my husband who is a US Department of State employee.
I am an Emergency Veterinary Technician and am wondering if it will be possible for me to get work and a visa when we get there.
We will be living in KL for three years.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Go to www.imi.gov.my Malaysian Immigration Department. I'm afraid most expat wives area not allowed to work on their husbands work permit unless they have very specialized skills that will be useful to the Malaysian Government. As you are in the veternary business. I think you should try the National Zoo which may require such skills. If you get them to hire you that is. Most companies dont want to pay for a work permit if they are small and besides the package you may have enjoyed back home is not what you will get here. You may be better off just enjoying the expat life here...;0)

I checked with some friends in Agricultural industry. They said that it is possible to that the Ministry (or Dept of ) Agriculture will require the skills that you have especially if you have been dealing with livestock as the country is pushing to raise it's agricultural production. good luck.
