Hi there,
Hope you're happily moved to KL.. but if you're still considering, here's some help with your Q's:

1) RM1400 for Housing (2 bed 2 bth condo that's partially furnished and in okay condition.. expats can ually afford much nicer places at about RM3500 and up.. that'd give you resort living :)

2) RM45/week or so for Gasoline (Gas is gov't subsidized, so all prices from various comps are the same.)

3) RM60,000 - New Car (local make) or RM110,000 - New Car (Foreign Make)

4) RM40,000 - Decent Used Car.. (automatic.. go to www.thestar.com.my and see their classifieds for further prices)

5) RM30 per person per day - Food (though this depends on what you eat, and where you go.. I tend to eat local so it can be even cheaper.. but if you need american or others.. it could be at least RM 30 per person per meal)

6) RM20/mth - water
7) RM70/mth - gas/electricity
8) RM100/mth - telephone
9) RM100/mth - cell phone

10) On Furniture, it can vary.. there's an Ikea here that's got new stuff for relatively good prices.

--Anyway, these figures are basically what i pay, but I moved here to start a company and so my income and means of living is probably lower thn what yours would be. That said, even with this above budget, I still live rather comfortably :)

Ok, let me know if you have any more questions, and all the best in your decision to move :)
