Hi,

I have just accepted a role based in KL which starts in December'13 and was wondering if anyone has any advice on where to live, where are the good places for a 30 year old single expat to meet other people in a simiular situation

All comments welcome

Hello Mark,

I am also moving from USA, but not till early next year.

The following site seem to have a good number of rental listings in Malaysia.

http://www.iproperty.com.my/

Here is an example of a rental in KL for 1500RM or about $458.00 US.

Good luck

Hello Mark,

I moved to KL from USA 5 years ago and I loved it there. I stayed there for 3 years before relocating again to Singapore.

The famous expat areas in Kuala Lumpur are Ampang, Bangsar, Damansara Heights, Mont Kiara and Sri Hartamas.

Since I was also single, young and carefree at that time, I chose to stay in Bangsar area, which is popular among the younger expats due to its wide varieties of cool pubs and restaurants.

If you need any help you can hire an expat service agency to help you move smoothly.

I used asiaexpatguides.com to set up my accommodation & paperwork when I moved to malaysia and I was quite pleased with the service.

Hope this helps, and good luck with everything!

Jason

Check the traffic patterns from where you work to various locations with a 20km radius of where you work (assuming you drive). Use Google Maps. Fail to do this and you will spends hrs in traffic jams. KL has many decent areas. Where exactly you working? PM me
