if you stay in house most of the time. just use electric fan, use more than one if your room is big.

outside: the only way practical way i could think of: wear long pants unless you dont mind applying ointment; and avoid mosquito peak active hours: dawn & dusk.

also, cockroaches, yes quite often. no real answer to this. pesticides hardly work nowadays.
