Hello,
My husband and I are strongly considering a move to Malaysia. Over the years we've traveling extensively and lived in 13 countries in the ME Africa Europe Latin America and now in the US.
I would like to rent first before making the decision to purchase. We are both retired professional.
We are not familiar with the place but we are looking for a beach place with golf and fun to have the family and grand kid visit.

1. house should be the last thing: plenty for you to pick. talk to real people, not property sellers with agenda.

2. beach and golf is simply joining a club. Malaysia do have a Club Méditerranée, at Cherating (please google).

3. things unwelcome here: gay, lesbians, nuding at beach, marijuanas, rioting, carrying guns, etc.

4. fly in, see it for yourself. the $ spent certainly would be worthwhile, and you owe yourself a trip dont you?
certain things simply can't be put even on the internet.

5. travelling to Malaysia with illegal drug (heroin, ice, etc) comes with a MANDATORY dealth penalty.

regards

For sure you read that Malaysia was again ranked third worldwide for places to retire in 2014. And the ranking comes from the American Magazine International Living which usually focuses more on closer countries. There must be a reason for it.

Have a look yourself and enjoy the friendliness of the people, the unbelievable wide range of good food, and lot of sunny days. Try out the different places which might be your thing, like bust Kuala Lumpur, romantic Melaka or the laidback food-heaven Penang.

If you are interested in a chat combined with a cool beer you can contact me when in Penang.

1. though Penang is often mentioned, it is already too crowded (think traffic jams).

2. the best beach in peninsular Malaysia is in the east cost, especially in Terengganu.
google : pulau redang.

the best diving place and world-reknown is in Sipadan, near Sabah (where the Prince of Wales went there to meet/greet the orang utans -- Sepilok to be exact).

3. overall, the easiest place for all nice place typical an urbanite look for would be in Melaka: not so crowded but has many hypermarkets, delicious Peranakan (nyonya) food, plenty of excellent private hospitals, and most important very easy to travel from Melaka to the rest of peninsular Malaysia if you love driving. and also near Singapore if you happen need to travel extensively without the burden of cramping yourself in Singapore. and if you love jungle tracking, Taman Negara (National Park) Endau Rompinis not that far. Or even Gunung Ledang (Mount Ophir) would be a challenge. it is the best middle size city i think would suit many. penang and KL /PJ of course is for those flushed with $ to burn.
there is also theme park near Melaka for children:the Afamosa (golf & water theme park). also Pulai Spring USGA Class Golf Courses and legoland nusajaya are near singapore. so I cant see why anyone of your interest would give Melaka a miss.

Hi,

You can go to suburban area of Kuala Lumpur.
Why not give a try to visit Kuala Lumpur. You can live in a guesthouse in which you can feel the surrounding area and community. You can stay in guesthouse like Alhana Inn (Guesthouse/Vacation house). The location is near to Bandar Sri Permaisuri Lake. You can have a walk/recreation there. It also near to hospital and LRT.

Suburban area of KL is nice, not so busy but still easily accessible to multiple attraction area. It also ~3-4hours to Singapore by car. KLIA/LCCT/KLIA 2 International Airport also ~45minutes by car (which also accessible using ERL). ERL is interconnected to LRT that situated in front of the guardhouse.

It near to multiple golf centre. You can have many option to have a fun with your family and grandkid like Kidzania, Sunway Lagoon, Berjaya Times Square Theme Park, Genting Highlands and more. You can bring your family to other city like Malacca, Terengganu, Penang, Johor (Legoland, Hello Kitty, etc) and Singapore easily as KL located at the central of Malaysia.

You can get more information about them at www.alhanainn.com
