Working and living in Seremban

Hi, currently I received an offer to work for two years in the area of Seremban. Due to the fact that I have two children (3 years; 2month) the decision is not easy for me! Plan would be to move for two years to Malaysia with my family.

Is there anybody who can give me some help / information regarding:

1) how is Seremban
2) international community available? We are from Germany!
3) Would it be better to move close to KL and I would travel each day to Seremban
4) what about Kindergarten
5) experiences of other expats who moved together with their family to Malaysia

There are actually thousand questions and I hope someone shares his/her experiences with me.

For me most important would be that my family enjoys this movement. I will be working the whole day and they need to have the possibility to do something!

Mans thanks in advance

Roger

Not much for western expats in Seremban I'm afraid. Very few expats there and not even a decent hotel. You need to research further before you consider moving there.

Many thanks for your response. I really appreciate that! What do you think about Port Dickson? Or is there any other city between Seremban and KL which is more international?

We defenitely need to have an international Kindergarten next to the place wie live,

Many thanks in advance

You are welcome. Don't discount Seremban entirely, if you can find a clean and decent apartment or a house in a secure environment at a reasonable price (around RM2k per month), then you could look at joining the Sungai Ujong Club which has a swimming pool, bar and etc. But there is no international standard kindergarten in Seremban to the best of my knowledge. There are kindergartens which claim to be of international standard, but I can assure you that they are not.The same applies to Port Dickson, in PD there is the old Yacht Club which has basically the same facilities as the Sungai Ujong Club, but you won't find an international standard kindergarten in a sleepy little town like PD. Having said that, PD is pretty much traffic free and is only 30 minutes drive from Seremban. You may find a suitable kindergarten in KL but commuting is a problem due to the traffic. If you get on the road before 6.30am, you can reach Seremban in an hour from most parts of KL. But travelling back to KL, you will find huge traffic jams and it may take 2 hours plus to travel back. Hope this helps.
