My spouse and I have moved just south of Cancun and are having a hard time finding environmental/ecological groups to volunteer our time with. Anyone know of any? Also we haven''t really met any expats in the area. Would really like to hook up with some English speaking expats.

" I don''t know of any volunteer opportunities in CanCun myself, but if you go to Compuserve you will find a Travel Forum where you can post your question on the Mexico/Latin America section. You might get a good response there from someone that owns a condo on Akumal. By the way, I will be staying on Playa del Carmen for a month to look at Real Estate. I plan to live there part time if all goes well. Like you, I will also be looking to volunteer. Where are you located in the CanCun area; and how long have you owned your property? Would be interested in hearing your experience. If you wouldn''t mind emailing what R.Estate agency you used and lawyer, etc., I''d appreciate it. I have a friend in Mexico City who is a lawyer/judge that will look over the paper work, but I''d also like a good lawyer in CanCun. Hope to hear from you before I leave---a week and a half from today! Karen "

My wife daughter and myself are going to return to Tulum by October of this year. We are selling our business in the states and plan an early retirement in the area of playa to just south of Tulum. We see that you folks have relocated in Mexico. We would greatly appreciate any advice or information that you could give us about making the move etc. We were there last july and really loved the people and the country. We stopped in a Mayan village on the way to Coba and really enjoyed visiting one on one with the Mayans. We would really like to correspond with any one from the states in the area. Thank You Grant & Debi

" Look up Dina Drago in Puerto Morelos (everyone there knows her.) She is an American and has been there for more than 20 years, has a beautiful house just north of town on the coast (possibly unpaved) road. She is VERY involved in ecology and has built several ""natural"" toilets in the area. She saves trees, etc. There is an ecological group in Cancun in the pretty apartment building on the opposite corner to Immigration in Cancun (Av. Nader), but I can''t remember the name. Good luck! "
