Self-Storage

Question: do you think there is a need for a first rate self-storage facility, one with 24 hr security, some climate controlled units, car storage, etc.? Would you use it? Would people you know have a need for such a service.

Your target demographic would be ex-pats at US dollar prices. I'm curious how many people own a second home in Mexico and rent their property as vacation rentals. They would need space to store clothes, valuables, recreation gear, sporting equipment, etc. Also, transitional storage may be useful as a secure place to store items that people bring from their home country while building or buying their future home in Mexico. In addition, business storage usually accounts for 35% of self-storage business.

Any thoughts, comments or insight would be appreciated!

Thanks, Greg

Hello Greg,

Many Mexicans own a second home for weekends and vacationing, but in our culture we do not store as many stuff as americans do. We tend to store all of our belonging in basements, or just get rid of stuff we dont use.
Still I have seen two self storage facilities in Mexico City that I guess do well. Buth are on the HWY towards a vacation area. www.u-storage.com.mx

Hope this helps

I just found a great new self storage facility in Guadalajara. It is called Bodemax https://www.bodemax.mx . It is located 5 minutes from the Country Club. The facilities are American Style (within a building). Plenty of security. I highly recommend them.

There are several of these units in the Puerto Vallarta area. I do not know how popular they are. People who live here usually have a lock out room for when they rent out their home. And most people find it not necessary to bring a lot of things down here , as most homes are sold already furnished.
