Forgive me for being cynical, but this is suspect on sooooo many levels that I wouldn't know where to start... perhaps with the authorities in both countries!?!? Since Chihuahua had the highest murder rate in Mexico in 2012, I'd think that one would have to be more suicidal than adventurous to want to relocate there. Just sayin'...

I have to add my concerns to this as well. So let's be bold for a moment. Is this a religious cult, because you won't get out? They existed in Ecuador and used some serious brain washing after you get there. Are there any men involved anywhere at any time? Even you answered NO I would not believe you. I don't think relocation is as much an issue as are the motives of the original posters. SINGLE MOTHERS!!! BEWARE PLEASE. This is likely a scam designed to exploit in some way.

I agree. Note especially that the email address is a man's name, asking for a community of women? Sounds a little fishy to me. I am a male, and can't believe that any woman would fall for this. Or is it just a prank joke?

I just cant believe this negative response ! I have lived in the Sierra Madre with a local (not ex-pat) family ) and found it safer than any U.S, big city .I know several single mex. women with kids who want to live together and start some kind of cottage industry in the rural areas because mex. cities are so unsafe. We thought that some women from the U.S. would want to take advantage of this supportive opportunity---,No this is not a religious cult,,nor sex exploitation.I'm 74 and dont need to screw around any more.I just want to settle down to a peaceful existance on a farm away from your hypocritical mentality. If you are really worried about your safety, start thinking about cleaning up your water and food supply

Had you been a little more detailed in your original post, maybe the responses would have been less negative. Good luck. I think you will need it.

108endless, despite your apparent many years of experience you appear very naïve and bitter, or this is a good show on your part. Even now the details you provide are insufficient at best. You are still a potential PREDATOR on the internet.

Yes, I would like to know what you expect to get out of this - a free place to live with a woman to cook and clean for you? What would your relationship to this "women's collective" be?

I just can't believe that you just can't believe these negative responses. Please pardon my hypocritical mentality (?), but did you really just expect carte blanche acceptance and trust in whatever it is that you're proposing, which by the way, is still more than a bit nebulous and undefined. You claim to know "several single mex. women with kids who want to live together and start some kind of cottage industry in the rural areas because mex. cities are so unsafe". What's stopping them? Why would you need American women, with children, "to take advantage of this supportive opportunity" to make your business model work so that you could then "settle down to a peaceful existance [sic] on a farm "? Supplemental Security Income and/or disability, alimony payments, child support and a supply of no cost/low cost labor all come to mind... i.e., the wherewithal to grease the wheels of your "cottage industry". You said "We thought..."; who is the "We" to whom you refer? Final thought in closing: it was extremely bad form to attempt to put doubters on the defensive by deflecting concerns of safety with comments about the quality of our water and food supplies. That shouldn't, and likely wouldn't, assuage a young mother's fears in the slightest.
My concerns were not allayed by your response... you've created more questions than answers. I'm not a prospect so you probably couldn't care less about what I think but my exposition is intended not only for you but for those who might be prospects--to possibly keep them from being potential victims.

excellent response hardaze. I don't think we'll see any more responses from this parasite. You are right about his negative, defensive comments. If he was a genuinely sincere person with no ulterior motive, he would have laid the whole program out right then and there. Good riddance.

anyone ever asks me why I want to leave USA ,I just need to show these vitriolic responses ! Just to clarify your views, there are men and women who are looking for a way to leave this country but have no contacts anywhere else in the world. The people that responded on this post are obviously not willing to consider anything but a safe, secure and effortless taxi ride into another life.If any of the many ominous predictions ,biblical or otherwise,-come true,- this very vulnerable hybrid lifestyle that americans enjoy will prove to be more perilous and provide less options for survival than an under-developed third world country (which I dont classify Mexico as being, its just geographically the closest alternative)I just dont have the funds to go further afield.A group with indigenous roots has a greater chance of survival. Here is an already existing group

108endless, if you want respect for what you post on this forum you should try to earn that respect, not go off on some childlike hissy fit. To be very clear, some of have experience in seeing the efforts of those attempting to manipulate and exploit others, it exists in a large way in Latin America. At this time, until you can prove your worth, I personally consider you a worthless forum troll or a dangerous internet predator. You have post nothing to prove the contrary.

Easy, Easy, Easy. I believe that I understand what 108endless was trying to say. Conditions in the USA, a first world country, is not idealistic; yet some expatriates expect to find that in a third world country. When it is not found there is a morbid desire by a torrent of the vitriolic rants about the host country...its people and lifestyle. If the country fails to live up to your expectations simple return to your country and be wiser for the experience. People like me who are looking for realistic posts to make an informed decision on relocation overseas do not need personal perceptions....just the facts. Let us make our own personal perceptions. Save the insults...its never ever respectful or necessary.

I agree Kombutz. I read a very interesting quote the other day that said "Even the most violent person can find a gentle way to solve a problem...just let him find a mosquito on his testicles and see how he handles it...!"

that is all well and good, but you have to understand that John Weide posted something, and in such a way, that it touched a nerve in a lot of people, and his response to them was not such that trust was engendered. Instead of responding to their concerns, he got defensive and negatively critical. I would say he brought it on himself by not thinking through what he and the others were saying, even if his interest was genuine and not predatory or pecuniary as it was interpreted.

Negative responses in this situation were more than appropriate. There were no personal attacks as none of us know this idiot. And yes, she or he is an idiot, either a forum troll or a predator. And to put this in perspective, I personally have lived in area's in Latin America where women and others were exploited. This threat is more real than some of you apparently know.

I do not enter negative post.
That being said, I am very suspicious of 108endless' original post and the two since.

harddazeknight, If I could have said what you did I would have, so I will just say ditto.

Tracym10 and homelessjoe, I would like to say ditto also.

108endless and everyone knocking the people you call negative. The original post and the responses make me uncomfortable for anyone who may take him up on this, what ever it is, he has not made the offer clear as to what it is or what is expected. The people who would respond to this are already vulnerable and do not need some scam artist to take advantage of them. I do not say at this point that 108endless is a scam artist but if it quacks like a duck etc. If the responses keep someone from being taken advantage of then that is a good thing. If 108endless would explain in some detail what he has in mind and it seems legit, then others may help him get it off the ground.

Until then, don't like it.

Homelessjoe...my condolences. The American constitution guarantees the freedom of speech. For some individuals, apparently you paint yourself into this category, the mere expression of that freedom is an abuse of it. Lighten up, be objective, ask questions for clarity before you open mouth and insert foot. I respond only to particular posts....just below them. Its beyond me how you could make that last inane post and try to link me with it. Ancient Japanese proverb: he who strikes first has run out of ideas. Let's keep this forum a place for realistic posts to help people who truly need pertinent information to assist with their relocation plans. Nuff said.

I have to agree with Colorado Bill and look at this "helping hand"with a skeptical eye. I suggest to any woman thinking about taking this offer... and maybe it is legit...BUT if they think of coming they had better make sure they have get away money in case something goes sour. And be strong enough to take care of themselves. CraIgslist is full of dangerous offers.... Caveat Emptor.
