I will be arriving on the 20th Sept. I am asking for help in finding a small apartment or room to stay in for a short time while I look around the area for a long term house or apartment rental. I have never been to the Lake Chapala area before but visited and travelled through most other areas of Mexico. Currently I am in Antigua, Guatemala.. I came here looking to find a home but Antigua is not it. I finally summoned the help of my trusted locational astrologer who pointed me to the Lake Chapala area. So I expect to stay for many years. Firstly I need somewhere to start my search from and hope I can get help and advice here on finding a small apartment or room temporarily. I am a retired woman, single, healthy and fit. No car, no pets.

Do you have a residence visa approved by a Mexican Consulate in your legal country of residence? If not, you will have to enter as a tourist (FMM visitante) and leave within 180 days. Other than that, you are very likely to enjoy Chapala, where we lived happily for over 13 years; first, in Ajijic for almost 2 years, then in Chapala proper for over 10. Wish we were still there.

Hi, I'm looking for long term rental in lake chapala area. I've been abroad many times, mostly central america,Fiji,Ecuador. I'm retired on a fixed income. I know the best source for rentals is word of mouth. Online searching is full of deceit, especially if your an american.the price changes...any solid leads would be appreciated.looking for a one bedroom,or studio, with a good price

Chapala and Ajijic have many B&Bs, with good locations for pounding the pavement to find more permanent digs. There are also numerous hotels, from really cheap to more expensive choices. Let Google help you find a place to stay temporarily. Enjoy.....

Aloha, I am moving from Hawai'i to Lake Chapala area on Monday. WE found a FABULOUS house for long term rental through Mario at AccessLakeChapala.com. He posts pictures, videos, Google maps, anything and everything you might want to know. I highly recommend Mario to anyone looking for a place. He has an email form with every listing and responds quickly. Please tell him I referred you. We just rented Casa Velasco and are *really* pleased with the entire process. Denise Crosby
