Temp Res Visa Benefits Part 2

Does anyone know if there is Mexico medical coverage with a Temporary Residence Visa?

The Temporary Residence Visa does not include any medical benefits, per se, but all legal residents are eligible to enroll in either IMSS or Seguro Popular. However, for most routine care & medications, expats typically use local doctors and farmacias, paying in cash, as both are quite reasonable. The public systems are triaged and there are long waits & frequent lack of medicines or supplies in some areas. You would need good Spanish skills and a responsible person to be with you in hospital.
There really is no free lunch.

When I got Seguro Popular they wanted a Permanente Visa. People in the Chapala area said they got it with a Temporal ???

Not looking for a free lunch, just looking for options. Paying for expat medical insurance is for the rich, which I am not. I'm trying to figure out how to pay for potential higher medical expenses should the need arise. As an example, I was told treatment for a simple rattlesnake bite could cost thousands in the end. I wonder how much a heart attack costs in Mexico when paying out of pocket.

You have the options of public triaged system VS excellent private doctors and hospitals at a cost. How you handle the cost is entirely up to you. You may pay as you go, or you may pay insurance premiums to cover hospitalization. Consult with insurance agents for details, as they will vary with your age, disquaifying prior conditions, varying deductible plans, etc., etc.
There is no single plan for everyone, nor is it as complicated and convoluted as in the USA.

"IMSS or Seguro Popular" Are either of these of any value if one gets hurt in a car accident? Hypothetically, let's assume a broken leg and a puntcured lung. Will the emergency room treat a foreigner if they prove they have either IMSS or Seguro Popular?
