Hi, I'm just doing all my online searches of area's in Mexico. I was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with either of these areas as a possible landing site. Things I'm looking for is cultural heritage, expat community, affordable living (living on $1240 SS), climate not too hot or too cold. Or appreciate any recommendations.

Wow! Those are two very different places. Both are a bit pricey for your budget, but not beyond reach if you are careful.

I think I'm preferring the Alamos area because it is backed up next to the the Sierra de Álamos Ecological Reserve. And there are mountains. Just wondering if anyone has spent any time there and could share their experiences. Thanks!!

It would be easy to drive from Tucson, or fly to Hermosillo and take a bus to Alamos for a visit. There are expats there & they can tell you all about it. The elevation keeps those of us with COPD away; sadly.

I live in Washington state but have considered driving there. Just somewhat hesitant about driving in Mexico. You hear things but just don't know how accurate it is. Thanks for your reply!!

Have you made it down to Alamos yet? We have just discovered it too and want to go down there. Hoping to drive down in May. If you're still interested, maybe we could caravan. We're in Arizona.
