Datgnat: Hi. As far as I know there is no anti-dengue vaccine yet. Being developed. All you can do is take the usual precautions against Mosquitos. IF you do get Dengue - and where I am many adults/children have had it & will get it - get to a hospital ASAP. You will probably end up being admitted for up to a week depending how soon you catch it & you will not be feeling too well - think bad flu-sick and very tired/weak. If you are late getting to hospital you will need more blood transfusions etc. etc. & you can die. I am not aware that one can build-up any resistance as if you get it again your symptoms will just get worse. Suggest you Google 'Dengue' and read about it yourself. PREVENTION as best one can is the only way to go at present. Good luck.

Please know your information when posting about medical and or medicine, you don't catch it in a jungle, it transmitted where there is population of humans infected, where the mosquito bites one person that is infected and then bites another and infects that person, and the chances of getting it rise with the growing outbreak. Yes you do build up an immunity, which last for up to a year, but this is where it gets dangerous, once bitten and infected after this year, your body recognizes the infection and goes into overdrive to get rid of it, this is Dengue Shock, this is deadly, this takes hospitalization, Parts of your liver dies, and you bleed out from your stomach and other areas. Every bone in your body feels like fresh breaks, and you can also develop a extreme cough where you spit up blood, This is coupled with high fever. This is comming from a person that has had it multiple times.
